Sandlanders revival suffered a major jolt as visiting Ketu United hit three first half goals past them in a ten minute spate with all three resulting from goalkeeping errors. Goalie Daniel Addo often a reliable pair of hands surprisingly spilled three aerial balls to give the Ketu lads easy chances to register an away win. Sandlanders after their away win against New Generation in Penyi went into the game in buoyant mood. Coach Seth Hoffmann and his team even had time on the morning of the match to rehearse their styles of celebrations. All were in anticipation for a good showing as supporters thronged to the match venue to catch up on all of the actions.

The game started with the vociferous home fans cheering on the players to go all out and they did exactly that with persistent attacking moves in the opponents’area which yielded no results but the  indications during the early stages were that Sandlanders would have a field day. In a rare attacking move 15 minutes after kick off, a United forward man played a feeble shot into the home team’s area which Addo came off his line to meet but the ball rolled over him resulting in the first goal.

The goal obviously disorganized the Sandlanders defenceline marshalled around Captain Augustine Tamakloe and Abeiku Banyin and boosted the confidence of the Ketu United team as they immediately followed up with a number of attacks into the home team's area. Sandlanders immediately reorganized after instructions from the bench and when all seem to be going well for them again, a harmless long ball into their goal area saw Addo again making a terrible mistake with an aerial situation. With nobody following up on the ball, the goalie spilled the ball for another Ketu United Striker who was lurking behind him to head into the empty net for the second goal. The manner in which the goals were being conceded angered the expectant home fans as they begun hurling abuses at players. The reaction from the fans saw the entire team throwing themselves into the game giving hopes again of a revival. They created a few goal scoring chances which they failed to convert. The best chances came from a 25 yard free kick from midfielder Joe Anani which the United goalie parried back into play but two Sandlanders players in the area failed to tap in to register a consolation goal and then when the referee surprisingly failed to award a penalty after a Sandlanders player was brought down in the 18 yard box. That was all the action from the home team until Ketu United again got the third goal which was reminiscent of the second.

Coach Hoffmann realizing danger decided to play his best option on the bench and he brought on hard running super sub Ambrose Etsey for Henry Atta (who had a quiet game) but the substitution came too late as the referee immediately whistled for the end of the first half with the Sandlanders already three goals down. With egos deflated, Sandlanders returned in the second half a more purposeful side but the Ketu United team had plans of their own. In their efforts to frustrate the home team from staging a comeback, they decided to resort to rough tackles and time wasting antics which saw their goalkeeper receiving a yellow card for time wasting. As hard as the home team tried to reduce the deficit, luck eluded them as most of the efforts they made at scoring a goal went either wayward or the strikers fumbling with the chances.

As the game was running to a close Ihouma Bembella was sent on for dimunitive Ashittey Richard and then Zikpe Eric for William Abbey. The changes yielded no results as the referee whistled for the end of the game bringing an end to hopes by the Sandlanders to a qualification ticket to the Middle League play-off this season.
